Title: Going Shopping
Author and llustrator: Sarah Garland
Publisher: Frances Lincoln Children's Books
Concepts: consumers, choices, multi-tasking, caring labor
Review: Mum needs to get her grocery shopping done with her toddler and baby in tow. Not to miss out on a good car ride, the family dog also comes along. In and out of the car, making lots of choices to fill up the grocery cart, lugging kit and caboodle to the car, and in and out of the car again. It is no wonder that Mum looks so frazzled when they arrive back home. This delightful book introduces pre-schoolers to the idea that consumers make choices. It also does a marvelous job in featuring a mother who multi-tasks with determination, patience, and humor.
