Review: Mom is staying home to do her work while Dad takes their lively daughter on a bus ride to the local grocery store. Fortunately both parents have a sense of humor, which turns an ordinary and potentially tedious chore into a fun adventure. Which aisle has the “strong anti-grump pills” and the “extra-clean germs”? Mom can’t be serious. Dad’s ability to laugh also comes in handy when the daughter’s pent-up energy turns into an enormous sneeze that has a domino effect throughout the store. This charming book makes a good vehicle for introducing young children to some basic economics concepts such as consumers and goods. The reversal in stereotypical gender roles and the multicultural characters add a nice touch.
