Concepts: capital resources, human resources, public services

Employees at the town’s public works have their hands full and keep their trucks busy year-round.  The spring brings spring cleaning; not closets and rooms, but streets that need to get cleared of sticks, sand, and debris.  Summer brings out different equipment necessary for pothole patches and summer storm repairs, while the fall necessitates an enormous elephant truck to suck up all the fallen leaves.  Winter, when the public works trucks and employees are perhaps most appreciated by the village residents, calls for snow plows and trucks to salt and sand the roads.

This new book stands apart from the large number of truck books in the market with its focus on the people who operate the trucks and their contributions to the community.  The Village Garage serves as a useful and interesting tool for teaching young learners about capital resources, human resources, and public services.
