Review: Set in the coal town of Jewel Valley, Virginia, Little Audrey gives us a heart-wrenching glimpse into a family life of poverty, the angst of a mother in mourning, and an alcoholic father. Ruth White allows us to enter her life through the voice of her oldest sister Audrey.  Throughout the memoir, the reader is hoping for a better life for the family and wondering if the mother will be able to take care of her children, if the father will come to realize what his excessive drinking has done to his family, and if life will remain the same for the White family.
